Isfjorden in Romsdal
Isfjorden is a village at the innermost part of the Romsdalsfjord, close to Åndalsnes in Møre og Romsdal county. The place is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Easy arrivals to the surrounding valleys and mountains; Randonnée- and telemark-skiing, hiking, mountaineering and climbing. We recommend that you use guide services on many of the mountain, climbing and skiing trips in Isfjorden and Romsdal.
Some of Norways most famous mountains are located in Isfjorden and nearby: Romsdalshorn, the Troll Wall (Trollveggen), Vengetind, Blånebba, Juratind, Kirketaket and Torshammaren are some of them. The Romsdalseggen hike is one of Norway´s most scenic hikes. The fjord also invites to activities; swimming, sea kayaking and fishing trips in idyllic surroundings. The rivers Isa and Glutra are great rivers for fishing salmon and trout.

Torvika/Klungnes by the Romsdalsfjord
A short detour by car (approximately 2.5 kilometer) from Riksvei 64 at Torvika between Åndalsnes and Åfarnes in Romsdal. Beautiful view towards the Romsdalsfjord and Innfjorden with it´s surrounding mountains.
There is great view from the road towards the Romsdalsfjord, no hiking necessary. It is a great experience to walk along the road to Klungnes to get an even better experience.
Strictly speaking, Klungnes is not in Isfjorden. But since it has the name of the post office “Isfjorden” and in addition is such a beautiful place, we´ll of course present it here 🙂
Isfjorden – The Neighbourhood
Isfjorden and Åndalsnes with the Romsdal Gondola are situated between Trollstigen, Trollveggen, the Rauma Railway and the Romsdalseggen Ridge.
Geiranger and the Geirangerfjord are well known places nearby. If you go westwards, you have the Atlantic Coast with the Atlantic Road, Ona Island with Ona Lighthouse, Bjørnsund and Midsundtrappene.
Go North-East, and you will find the beautiful Eikesdal and the Mardalsfossen Waterfall, Aursjøvegen Mountainroad, and Litjdalen Valley. The cities of Ålesund, Molde and Kristiansund are nearby.
Travel information:
You can reach Isfjorden by car, 6 hours from Oslo or 4 hours from Trondheim.
Take the train to the end-station Åndalsnes at one of Norways most spectacular railways, then you can see Isfjorden from the Railway Station.
The Rauma Railway between Dombås and Åndalsnes is voted as Europe´s most scenic Rail Journey by Lonely Planet. Tom Cruise used the Rauma Railway when filming Mission Impossible 7.
The nearest airport is in Molde, then one hour by bus to Isfjorden.
